Coldwell Banker Intercoastal Realty

Celebrating 20 Years!

As Coldwell Banker Intercoastal Realty celebrates 20 years in Effingham County, Brandi Talton, owner and closing manager, is first to point out that the great agents and staff on their team is the main reason for the company’s success. Brandi says,

“We are like a big family that helps each other out with all of our needs, personal or real estate related."

“We have one agent who has been with us from the beginning. Jim Presnell came on board 20 years ago when CBIR was founded here in Rincon,” adds Brandi.

Jim Presnell moved to Georgia 21 years ago from Connecticut, where he was a real estate agent as well. He began his real estate career here with Latrelle Pevy at ERA.

Coldwell Banker Intercoastal Realty was founded in 1999 by Randy Crosby and Debbie Rafter. They approached Jim and asked if he would like to get in on the ground level. He met with them and decided he was on board for something new. “I was fully aware of the Coldwell Banker branding and knew what that brand could bring to Effingham County, “ stated Jim.

“It just felt like a good fit for me. I am a second-generation Realtor and felt this was the perfect opportunity to grow with. And grow we have, both me and the company. My sales are above 1,500 for my career. I have built my business on my knowledge of real estate and dedication to clients and customers. I have earned their trust, which I hold in high regard,” adds Jim.

CBIR has grown as well over the last 20 years.  When Jim started in 1999, it was only him and one other licensed agent. Jim was asked to step in from being just an agent to be the broker in 2007. He and past broker, Alice DeForest, helped grow the company to 32 agents before he stepped down and handed the reins over to Carmen Cribbs, the current broker. CBIR currently has over 50 agents working on their team.

Coldwell Banker Intercoastal Realty started off in Cherry Oak Plaza in North Rincon, moved to the Silverwood office buildings, then in 2007 ROC Enterprise built the office they are currently in at 5805 Hwy 21 South in Rincon. "This is a great location for this real estate business" states Jim. "I’m blessed to have my own office space. I have an open-door policy, all of the CBIR agents work great together and assist each other as needed. I'm the old guy on the block so many come to visit to get chocolate or ask my opinion on something. Everyone knows I don't mind talking for a minute,” he adds.

Jim shares his take on the current market, “The market is moving along at a reasonable pace. The buyer and seller pool seem pretty even on most market levels. The lenders seem to understand there is a demand and most are being reasonable on their timelines to meet the close dates.”

“Housing is based upon the employment sector. The greater Savannah area boasts a strong growing trend through the ports, tourism, and influence of the aerospace industry. The new industry growth calls for more new construction. The new construction has helped the economy, which creates more employment in overall sectors. This in turn, boosts the real estate industry, “stated Jim on his outlook of the future market.

CBIR has been the leader in Effingham for a number of years on many levels. From the beginning, we have been very active in the Effingham County community. We are very involved in the Adopt a Family Program, Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club and Exchange Club as well as many others. Every agent donates a part of each transaction to a local fund.  "My give back is to Effingham's Habitat for Humanity. We are now building home number 21 in Guyton”, states Jim.
