Ensuring the Hometown Approach - Ben Williams Offers Familiarity and Experience with his Insurance Business

Ben Williams Insurance in Springfield is a melding of new and old. It’s new in terms of opening three months ago, and it’s old as far as a familiar face in the community offering services in which he carries much experience both personally and professionally.

The independent agency is located at 405 N. Laurel St. It offers home, auto, life, health and commercial insurance and works with more than 10 carriers that include Allstate, Travelers and Safeco.

“Working with multiple carriers allows us to maintain lower premiums,” Ben Williams said. “As a small guy, I know my customers’ needs and can monitor their premiums.”

Although he’s been open for three months, Williams didn’t start selling insurance until three or four weeks ago. “Business has been really good,” Williams said. “I’ve been able to help some people right off the bat.”

Williams followed up a longtime interest in insurance that started as a youngster when he worked at the corporate office of Cotton State Insurance in Atlanta while attending the University of Georgia. He later moved to medical and pharmaceutical sales at the national level for over 20 years and worked with insurance companies.

“I felt like I knew the business and products very well,” Williams said. “I saw first hand, both professionally and personally, how it could protect your family.”

Willams said he started his own insurance business so he could have a flexible schedule and be more active in the community.

Williams has lived in Effingham County for over 25 years. His wife, whom he met in college, is a pharmacist. Williams said he loves the area and people, and he brings that family and community approach to his fledgling business.

“We view customers as family,” Williams said. “We look after you when you come in.”
