If you have spent any time in Effingham, you know Wiley’s Home Center in Rincon. Proudly serving South Georgia for more than 35 years, Wiley’s is all about family. 

To CEO Detra Thomas, family means more than blood. The staff at Wiley’s is a big part of the Wiley’s family. She is grateful to her coworkers and the good work they do each and every day. She enjoys their time together and knows they are as committed to serving Wiley’s customers just as much as she and her father are. There is not much turnover in the staff at Wiley’s. In fact, Detra has known many of her coworkers since she was a young child. “Some have been with the company 20 and 30 years,” she says.

Detra says, “They are overqualified and underpaid! We all pitch in and do what needs to be done, and I can honestly say I wouldn’t ask anybody to do anything I wouldn’t do myself. We all look out for each other. They know as much as I do, if not more about what needs to be done on a daily basis. I couldn’t be more grateful for this team.”

And this past year has been especially challenging. Detra says, “We hit the brakes at the beginning of 2020, then we did a U-turn to accommodate the setbacks from Covid19. But we worked through it and we have worked really hard to fill all of our customer orders and fill our showroom with even more beautiful furniture and accessories.”

Wiley’s Home Center has combined old fashioned customer service with quality products since 1987. Wiley and his wife Rosalyn opened the doors to a 20,000 square foot furniture and appliance facility and added 15,000 additional square feet of floor space in 1988.

Detra says, “We are a story of longevity, from our business to our furniture. Everything is custom made and although it may take longer to create, it is investment that can be passed down from generation to generation. Our furniture doesn’t wear out; it gets handed down!” she says.
