Kimberly Kicklighter

Kimberly Kicklighter is the Director of Support and Financial Manager at Kicklighter Law, married to attorney Mickey Kicklighter, and mother to their three daughters. She is originally from Atlanta, Georgia, where she worked in the financial industry.

“I had the position of Communications Coordinator at the Block Trading Desk in a very fast paced office. Then I met my husband Mickey and we married in 1992. We had our three daughters right away. I said I wanted to stay home and be with the children and I did until the oldest went off to college. At that point in time Mickey came to me and said he could use some help at the office with the finances. The kids were in school all day, so I went back to work.”

Kimberly says, “I really enjoy working at the law firm, where I am responsible for finances, insurance, security, marketing, support staff, you name it—I am a ‘jack of all trades’ and learn something new every day.”

In addition to her regular workload, she says she works wherever needed.

“If someone is out or we are short staffed, I pitch in and cover as best I can, right now I am covering the receptionist desk, helping with whatever needs to be done.”

She says working with her husband on a daily basis has worked out very well. Compared to the years she worked at home as a mother and homemaker she says “Working at the office means I get to actually lay eyes on Mickey. I rarely saw him during the day before I started working here, we really only saw him on weekends. And weekends were filled with activities for our daughters, such as travel volleyball, cheerleading, etc. Mickey’s day is really demanding, and he is busy from morning to evening. After work is when we sit down and discuss the events of the day. It’s been ten years now, so I think it’s going pretty well!”

Kimberly says “Kicklighter Law is truly a family business. We are a team, and this balances our lives and those around us. Our staff is wonderful, they are like family and we couldn’t do what we do without them. We can do what we do because we are working together.”

Free Time

After a demanding week Kimberly says, “Mickey and I like being at home, just puttering around the house. It’s very peaceful, we don’t get a lot of down time, so we treasure it. We have two Golden Retrievers—Drake and Scout—and we love to relax and enjoy playing with them.”

She says her advice to women in business is what she tried to convey to their children. She says, “As my daughters grew up, I tried to instill first God and then independence so that they could always take care of themselves.”

The oldest is an attorney in Atlanta, their second daughter is in biomedical engineering planning on attending medical school, and their third daughter is in college studying accounting and finance.

Kimberly says, “It is so important they learn they can do anything. As I always told them, just put your mind to it, find your way, and lead your own lives.”
