Redefining an Industry
Redefining an Industry
In an automotive world long dominated by men, Davis Tire stands out, not for its trucks or tires, but for the women who run the front lines. Every customer-facing role is held by a woman, creating an environment where clients feel welcome, informed, and respected.
“The goal is to make women comfortable walking into an automotive facility,” said Matt Davis, co-owner. “Too often, female customers feel intimidated when men handle their vehicle needs. We wanted to change that.”
The Brains Behind the Operation
Matt is quick to credit his wife, Ryan, as the driving force behind their business’s success.
“All the growth is from her. She’s the brains of the operation,” he said.
From designing every custom build to choosing lift kits, wheels, and tires, Ryan oversees every detail that comes through their shops.
“What excites me most is seeing customers happy after a build, whether it’s lifted trucks, custom wheels, or accessories,” Ryan said. “Their reaction, that’s what makes us happy.”
Matt admits he learned a great deal about leadership and customer service simply by watching her.
“She just listens to people, understands their needs, and handles every situation with grace,” he said. “I realized early on that this is how women can excel in this industry—by caring, paying attention, and treating customers with respect.”
Beyond her technical expertise, Ryan’s influence shapes the company culture, sets the standard for training staff, and ensures that every customer feels welcome and valued. For Matt, her guidance isn’t just professional, it’s a daily lesson in patience, empathy, and excellence.

Training for Excellence
At Davis Tire, hiring women is just the first step. Training is where the real work and empowerment happen.
“We hire for personality first and willingness to learn, then invest heavily in training,” Matt said.
Employees are educated on everything from vehicle mechanics to sales techniques and customer service.
“They're very good at what they do,” Ryan said. “They're fast learners. They're willing to learn anything we teach them. Whatever we need them to do, they take control, and a lot of them are willing to learn anything. They don’t see this as a male-dominated industry; they see it as an opportunity to excel.”
One of the greatest advantages of having women in customer-facing roles, Matt said, is their ability to handle tense situations with empathy and poise.
“If someone comes in frustrated, a woman at the front desk can calm them, listen to the problem, and guide them to a solution,” he said. “They’re better at problem-solving and soothing customers than most men in these roles.”
This skill not only strengthens customer trust but also ensures every client leaves with a positive experience. Matt added that women often notice details others might miss, small cues in a customer’s tone or body language, and respond in ways that prevent conflicts from escalating.
Their approach creates a more relaxed, welcoming atmosphere that keeps clients returning and builds long-term loyalty for the business.
For the Davises, this isn’t just a staffing strategy; it’s the heart of their company.
