Plant Riverside District will feature San Francisco, Calif. painter Alfredo Gonzalez, a winner of The Kessler Collection’s 2022 “Next Original” competition, as a special Artist in Residence at the Grand Bohemian Gallery.

Alfredo’s distinct portrait style captures life-altering experiences through quiet moments. This talented artist will paint and sketch live at the gallery during his residency. Members of the public are warmly invited to meet the artist, hear his story, enjoy a glass of prosecco and experience a live painting.

In 2022, The Kessler Collection issued an open call seeking The Next Original Artist. Out of more than 1,800 artists who submitted work, The Kessler Collection Chairman and CEO Richard C. Kessler handpicked 10 finalists. Kessler named all 10 finalists as The Next Original Artists of 2022, and all grand prize winners had their artwork featured on a digital billboard in Times Square on New Year’s Eve and are being showcased in The Kessler Collection’s hotels and art galleries across the country throughout the year.

Alfredo earned a B.F.A. in Painting from The Academy of Arts University in San Francisco in 2021 and specializes in oil painting, drawing and printmaking as a means of exploring the complex nature of human experience and emotion. A former construction worker in California, Alfredo was “discovered” through “The Next Original” competition and is currently pursuing art full-time.
